Fashion During the 1950s The 1950s was a year full of many events. For example, there was the Civil rights movement. The civil rights movement was when the African Americans were trying to achieve equality between the African Americans and the whites. Another major event during the civil war was the cold war. The cold war was strong tension between the United States and the Soviet union (a state in Eurasia that lasted from 1922-1991). All of these events had an effect on the fashion. This shows that the type of shoe someone would wear would show the type of person they are. This also shows that people would wear different types of shoes to show what they were doing.
