Coming from a small town in southern Mississippi it is not every day that you hear of someone with an interest in studying Fashion. From a very young age I have been interested in the Fashion Industry. While attending fashion prep summer camps at Mississippi State University, I learned about both the business and designing aspects of the industry. Attending these camps showed me that studying fashion is exactly what I want to study in college. Over the next four years I expect to learn everything I need to know about fashion merchandising and marketing. There are many aspects about fashion that I do not fully understand, like how one can possibly predict what the trends will be for the next season. I also would like to learn about the styling aspects of the industry as well. In my down time I like to spend time with family and friends, attend my dance classes, and shop. Special Interest of mine includes styling clothes, styling interior spaces, working at Soiree Boutique, and one day owning my very own boutique. With this major I will not only be qualified to do just one thing but I will be able to apply for many different career options. It is important to me that in the long run of my life I end up enjoying my job. When deciding …show more content…
As I have matured over the last four years I have learned a few different things about myself. My interests are not the same as they were four years ago. I am no longer worried about what others will think about with the career path I choose. I have learned that you cannot depend on making others happy you first must be happy with yourself. With this beings said that goals I have set for my future are very high in my opinion. I plan on being a independent successful woman. I want to be able to depend on myself and not have to depend of a man. I hope to create a name for myself in the fashion industry and work hard to create that

It 's a calm Friday afternoon, and I figured what’s better than having a little nostalgic moment and watching old hip-hop videos. I started with Biggies ‘s "Hypnotize" then I moved all the way to Lil Wayne’s "Bling Bling" . I thought to myself, “ My, has Hip-Hop fashion changed” from Armani suits, to tank tops and sagging jeans. But one thing I can say, these men in the beginning of their careers have never been considered homosexual because no matter what they wore it was still considered “street” or “hardcore” in the music industry.…

The history of fashion can be traced back to the beginning of the 19th century but I have chosen to write about the 20th-21st century. There are two basic modern fashion categories Haute Couture and Ready to Wear. The difference between Haute couture and Ready to wear is that Haute Couture is custom made whereas ready to wear clothing is made in big bundles of the same thing. Haute Couture is French for ‘high sewing’ or ‘high dressmaking’ or ‘high fashion’. Haute Couture is exclusive custom fitted clothing.…

Fashion in the 2000’s moved away from the minimalist approach, incorporating the fusion of trends from several different styles (Kamal 2015). What is fashion? Fashion is continuously changing throughout the years and it's not specifically based on the clothes people wear. Yoganarasimhan (2012) stated, "Fashion, as a phenomenon, is not confined to clothing or accessories. It also plays a prominent role in the success of other consciously consumed products such as electronic gadgets, furniture, and cars" (Yoganarasimhan, 2012, p. 75). This means society is buying products beyond their function and looking for a certain style that goes along with them.…

The same connection that drove Oscar de la Renta to pursue fashion design first as an illustrator coming from a fine arts background. The beauty about fashion design is the fact that every season the designer creates another story to add to the woman of today. And then again What 's more beautiful than dressing a woman? In the same way an artist adds another layer to their painting, Fashion Design is much more than what the first layer provides.…
