CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
Fashion is a powerful force touches every facet of our lives and has influence on our wearing, eating, living, interior and exterior landscape of our residential and work area, traveling and social gatherings. It has also involvement in building our personality as an individual, group, community. Same is the tool which builds self confidence and assurance.
Fashion played an important role in the development and expansion of business, industry and trade since long. The producers, marketers, advertisers and outlets also remained busy to learn from the changing consumer behavior and put every effort to satisfy the king. No doubt fashion leads to cost but marketing forces convince the user to ignore it and they eliminate the concept of waste of money. Before industrial revolution the ornate styling remained dominant in the apparel of both men and women who were associated with royal courts. This phenomenon changed after industrial revolution and created a new working class and men’s fashion as a result became considerably less colorful and more functional.
Troxell (1976) a famous consultant for fashion training programs, has identified the following five fundamental principles of fashion and these are in fact from the years today. These principles are the body of knowledge on which fashion and colors have direct and indirect impacts on human behavior at work place.
