The Voyage Begins Fascination of animals is a common thing that’s occurred amongst all generations. Whether they be exotic or more familiar, we can’t take our eyes off of them. They are beautiful to us because their whole world is completely different than ours. Striving for that feeling of certainty most animals have, our imagination turns us into an animal, letting our minds wander away from the world we live in. Conceptualizing the comparison of animals we observe and us, it begins to leave interest of all the other types of animals in the world. We must realize putting animals on display does not always make for the best experience. Most of Seaworld’s rescue work happens out of the public view, saving over 1,500 animals within the first part of 2015. Pedicini stated in another article that most theme parks have veterinary offices to help sick or injured animals and that Seaworld saved over 480 dolphins and whales last year while also generating $1.4 billion (par. 11). Seaworld’s Weird Science also acknowledges that by acquiring these different species over the years and letting scientists take a closer look at endangered creatures, “Seaworld points out that it hasn’t removed a killer whale from the oceans in more than 35 years. It has successfully bred 31 oreas [sic] in captivity since the mid 1980’s” (par. 8). Grasping the idea of spending the billions and taking these killer whales out of the ordinary environment they live in, can cause a disrupt or certain mix of emotions throughout these …show more content…
The park is also planning to teach us about how whales interact in the wild straying humans away from their glamourous shows. Whilst planning all of these renovations Seaworld also states they have had a decline in visitors in their California location since the recent bill being let out and observed over about stopping whale breeding and whale performances along with the controversial documentary Blackfish coming out (par. 21-30) . In addition of trying to teach us about the wild killer whales Seaworld holds, they have been breeding for over 31 years, letting us know that these whales have no outer Seaworld experience
