This is not good for our economy, for our environment or even the family farmer. Putting all their proverbial eggs in one basket means if their one crop has a poor yield, it could wipe out everything for that farmer. Change from industrial farming to multi-crop sustainable farming and the federal government will help foot the bill for the switchover. Give your farm a mix of grains, vegetables, fruit trees, and animals to make it sustainable and environmentally friendly, and the government will be there to help you during the transition. In addition to the cash bribes, the government will also offer programs and consultants to teach farmers how best to use their land sustainably.
On the flip side, if any farm chooses not to go this route, all farming subsidies end. No more artificially inflated prices for industrial crops, no tax breaks for growing or breeding them, all of it, gone.
