A pig who oddly enough looks like a mouse but is constantly slouching because his back left leg is limp. Hess explains they aren't quite sure what's wrong with his lef but explains it may need to be amputated and get replaced with a prosthetic leg. Hess leans in closer towards Mouse with her hand out and says "buddy can I give you some scratches? Do you want a belly rub?" As she begins rubbing his belly she explains this is the sign of a pig that is finally trusting us [humans].

Before getting to the Farm Sanctuary the animals rightfully so had a reason not to like humans. "When we went in to rescue the pigs everyone was sinking in feces up over their ankles. It was dark and had really high ammonia levels. It was just completely disgusting," explains Hess.

More than 130 pigs, chickens, goats, sheep and cattle were rescued from a farm in Hudson Valley. The former owner would use the animals for meat to serve to his customers at café a he owns. Hess explains there were dead bodies and parts of animals in with the live animals on the 300 acre farm. "A cow was slaughtered on the property the morning of the rescue right in front of the other animals so you know the other animals heard that and saw that. So they had every right to be scared when we were trying to move them into different areas," explains
