Some people take for granted the fact that they get three solid meals a day. I for one have never had to worry about where my next meal was coming from or when I will be able to eat again. According to the article FAO Committee on World Food Security Meets on Hunger Challenges states that, in the world today, eight hundred and forty two million people go hungry every day. World hunger is worst in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America (“Know Your World: Facts About World Hunger & Poverty”). In the United States forty to fifty percent of our food gets wasted every year, but we still have forty eight point one million Americans who do not know where there next meal is coming from (“Solving World Hunger Means Solving World Poverty”). Meanwhile, in third world countries six million kids are dying due to hunger (“Poverty Kills 6 Million Kids Many in Hungry World”). People have to make the decision every day whether to pay their bills or feed their families (“Hunger is almost always due to poverty”). There are several explanations as to why world hunger is a huge issue today. A couple of reasons are economics, war, famine, droughts, floods, typhoons and inefficient agriculture practice. There are many resources out there today that are working to end world hungry. Dealing with political issues is a key part of finding a solution to world hunger.
