Detective Perez, Detective Elkin, and Detective Ma arrived at the crime scene at 1:22 A.M. after Fannin, a prominent racketeer in Ernie’s lunchroom, was shot and killed by a presently unknown assailant. The three detectives rushed in a few minutes after the gunshot was heard. We found a handprint on the wall and the floor was newly mopped and there were footprints in the shallow pools of water. We discovered that there were four people eating at the bar and we suspect that three of the four customers knew each other because customers B, C, and D’s money combined was the amount of money in the cash register, which means the three customers paid together. Ernie stated that the murderer shot Fannin at point-blank range. One set of footprints ran outside, one tip-toed to the kitchen, and one went to the cash register which cashed out at $8.75, which was the amount of money paid by customers B, C, and D.
