Famous City Bistro: A Short Story

Improved Essays
Jennifer and I decided to go to Famous City Bistro for our eleven month anniversary. I guess you could say we were getting pretty serious. We talked about having a family and living together. But, it did not seem right. I felt like I was missing something. Someone. It was Kelly. She was the one, well what I thought was the one.
When Kelly and I first met, it was on a cruise in the Bahamas. She looked amazing. The red dress, and her blonde hair flowing down her back. I could not stop looking at her, she was beautiful. I finally got the gut to ask her for her name. She told me, and after that we talked all night, until we said our goodbyes at 2 in the morning. We both parted ways. I hoped that I would get to see her tomorrow, when the cruise ended. Well, I did.

You are still in love with me Kelly. Or you wouldn’t have lied to him. You would not even of came here. Just admit it.” I responded
“I am in love with you Hunter, and I had always wished that you would of came back. But you did not. You just left me hanging there. No texts no nothing. How do you think I felt?” She said sadly.
“I did not think that you cared anymore, that you were over me. That is what you made it look and sound like. How is that my problem. I tried and tried and nothing was ever good enough for you.”
“You know that is a complete lie Hunter! I tried to keep in contact with you, and then you stopped answering your phone.” And there it was. The truth. I did stop answering my phone, because I thought she moved on. That last phone call she told me that she was leaving state for a business trip; and she did not know how long it would be for. I thought it was going to be for the rest of her life. I was not going to try to talk her out of it, but I did not want her to go either. I thought she was moving on, so I let it all go. I had to. I could not get hurt any longer, and she knew that.
“You know exactly why Kelly.” And she did. I could tell in her eyes as she looked down at her

She was one of the girliest girls I knew since grade school, with her stylish culottes and pink garments of all different shades for all different occasions. She was the epitome of a mixture between pure innocence and quirk that boldly took her rightful place in the middle of my heart. Mary Anne wasn’t just all of that; she was also my affectionate girlfriend, my warm-hearted best friend who I could talk about anything with, from the most trivial things to the very meaning of our whole existence. At the time, all I could feel was the absolute joy that I got from spending my time with her. We had our entire happiness in the future planned out, a dream wedding and all, but maybe that was the reason why I wouldn’t have ever imagined that I would be feeling so lost and empty just a few years later, alone and missing a part of myself.…

In the novel, The Great Gatsby, by F, Scott Fitzgerald, the false love the characters fill their lives with does not lead to the happiness they are looking for. Some characters look to fulfill themselves through an egotistical longing they mistakenly call love. Others try to share their marital love with more than one person leaving them unable to fully give of themselves to their spouse. All of the lies told about love leads everyone away from happiness and joy which people were intended for and towards sorrow and despair. The novel is ultimately a quest for happiness, and joy; a longing which is never fulfilled.…

Sarah McCloud was thinking about Sean Bortles again, her eyes closed. When she first met him, she saw Sean’s welcoming, protective muscular arms and rose tattooed chest; when she got to know him, his heart and his face were cold, like death on a winter's night, arms no longer welcoming and protective but hurtful and ominous. His rose tattoo was a story that she would’ve never wanted to read if she had known the tragic ending from the start. She heard a door slam, and every pretense had fallen.…

My first love story is different from everyone else's love story. It is a tragic love story, so tragic that it turns the most ungrateful people into grateful ones for having the chance to live a happy first love relationship no matter how long it lasted or how bad and cruel it ended. February 28, 2014 I went to dinner with my friends and they asked the 8th grade girls out to grab something to eat. At this dinner I met probably the weirdest girl I've ever met before. She was just crazy, talking with this fast and nervous voice and acting in a hyperactive way.…
