A Reflection On A Family Vacations

Decent Essays
For this assignment I choose to write about a family vacation. This family vacation may not have been anything too spectacular to anyone looking in from the outside. However, to those who were fortunate enough to be part of the vacation, it meant everything. This family vacation story also shows how important family really is.

In the 13 years that my husband and I have been married we have never really gone on a vacation, besides just going home and visiting family. However, in 2013 we received a call from my father in law where he told us that we had to be available for a particular set of dates and that we had to go to New Mexico during that time. We made all the arrangements necessary and we headed to New Mexico. Once in New Mexico we found out that we were going on a big family vacation. This family vacation included my husband, me and our children, but also my mother and father in law, my husbands brother and his family, my husband’s

As I was reflecting on the family vacation, I talked to my husband and children about this event and they all remembered it in the same way that I do. It was fun to reflect on this family vacation and remember the sheer joy that was seen in the faces on the many family members who were in attendance. Even though it has only been a few years, I have noticed that my feelings regarding this occasion have become fonder. And luckily, for us we have photos to look back at for years to come.

I believe that a nonfamily member would learn that in my family, family is the most important thing in the world. I would also hope that a nonfamily member would see how much we all love each other. My family vacation story also shows teaches others that an occasion does not have to be fancy or activity packed to be a memorable event. As a bonus my family vacation story may also teach people that life is short and to not waste any

When my parents informed me of a possible trip to Israel last spring, I brushed it off. There had been so many times that they had suggested trips that eventually fizzled out when we couldn’t get it together in time. This prospective trip to Israel was different, though: it would include my Dad’s parents, brother and niece and it would occur in tangential celebration of my brother’s thirteenth birthday. I say tangential because my family isn’t really Jewish and we certainly aren’t observant. My Dad is Jewish, he went to Hebrew school and had a bar mitzvah but my Mom is Christian, raised in a church-going household.…

Holidays, special occasions, and birthdays come to mind when someone mentions a vacation. For me, a vacation would mean a chance to get away from life’s daily responsibilities for a few days. I could really use a break from school, chores/errands, motherhood; and one I know a little too well is stress. I want a chance to relax and unwind, enjoy the scenery, refocus, and recuperate. My ideal vacation would be to leave all my cares and worries behind and fly to the picturesque country of Hawaii.…

My best childhood memory is from when I traveled out of the country for the first time with both my parents. I had traveled numerous times before to the Dominican Republic, but only with my dad while my mom stayed in New Jersey. Along with material culture, there was an abundance of speech acts throughout my Thanksgiving ritual. I noticed much talk about college and older family members giving college student family members advice about their career decisions. Thus, we participate in the “career advice ritual.” These statements include, “Make sure you attend class and get to know your professors” or “I hope you are participating in extra activities outside of class” or “Make sure that you can get a job out of college with your major choice” or “Do you have a part time job now? If not, get one.”…

Christmas break in my opinion is probably the second best brake that we have throughout our school year. The main thing I like about Christmas break is how long it is. But even though I like how long we are off school it's almost like we don't have a break because basketball takes over. We get a few days off but the rest of the days are hitting the gym early in the mornings for two to three hours a day. The days I have is the best thing in the world because I get to relax and do something fun for once.…
