Therapist must ensure that they are not imposing their personal feeling on how the family should be treated in therapy and the relationship they have with each member of the family. The American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy code of ethics provides a guideline for therapist to adhere to, because it creates a good working and legal therapeutic relationship between the therapist and their clients. The beliefs of Value- Sensitive Care are that I must have respect for the differences between themselves, the client and their peers. I should hope for and commit to the process of change in therapy.
