At this time, the prevailing subject matters in the media, from what I have seen, have been about extreme ideologies. In a previous paragraph I spoke about the most important things parents can do for their children, however these teachings do not seem to resonate with adults today, in particular young adults. Rebellion as well as a person trying to figure life lessons themselves verses taking only in stock of what has been taught to them causes gaps in self learning, leading to erroneous behaviour and social mechanisms. While family socialization has many merits, a system based on accepted truths or faith gives potential false answers to said learner. My own personally noticed drawback of family socialization would be that many family units have degraded in that parents are afraid to take up the role of being a parent many would rather be a friend towards their respective children by lacking enforcement, conceding to demands, and rewarding negative or sub-par behaviour. Lacking proper teaching in coping mechanisms as well as the knowledge of being able to be wrong on or about an idea, there is often great shows of dismay and wrongdoing when confronted on an issue or idea conflicting with a person’s accepted truth. Mass media’s collective intelligence is only as strong as the weakest link, it is a mob mentality. If your ideas are disagreed upon by others, mass media allows you to simply unfollow it/them, or block them. Mass media coerces people into believing reading to comprehend something is hard work, and that people are too busy living their lives to think; it promotes laziness, which in turn causes people to rely on what they’re told is the truth/ what is convenient to them, where ultimately fact checking becomes
