In the article, Family Routine Moderates the Relation Between Child Impulsivity and Oppositional Defiant Disorder Symptoms, Lanza and Drabick did a study about the relation between a child with ODD and the family's involvement. The purpose of their study was to examine whether child-reported family routine moderated the relationship between child impulsivity and ODD symptoms among low-income, urban, ethnic-minority girls, and boys. In this study, it is expected that children with higher levels of hyperactivity/impulsivity symptoms would show higher levels of ODD symptoms, compared to children with lower levels. The researchers hypothesized that children with higher levels of impulsivity and reported higher levels of family routine would exhibit lower levels of ODD symptoms than children reporting lower levels of the family routine. Also, it is expected that children with higher levels of impulsivity and lower levels of family routine would have higher levels of ODD symptoms than those who have higher levels of the family routine (Lanza & Drabick, 2010).
