Family Probes: The family lives in 3 bedroom house. The master bedroom is downstairs and the boys’ bedrooms are upstairs. Each bedroom, as well as the living room, has a television. The main television in the living room has several gaming systems that the family plays together often. A typical day, according to Tarea, is she gets up at 4:30 a.m. to be at work at 6:00 a.m. She calls each son at 6:45 a.m. to make sure they are up and getting ready for school. Daniel gets up at 7:00 a.m. and takes the Kason to school at 7:30 a.m. Kadan drives himself. Tarea works until at least 5:00 p.m. Daniel works varies hours. Both boys go to baseball practice after school and Kadan picks Kason up afterwards. Suppers are eaten together, if it be home cooked or carry out. There are rules for the boys. No tobacco or alcohol. Not only is it illegal at their age, but it could affect their sports performance. Their curfew is 10:00 p.m. on a school night and midnight on a weekend. Girls are allowed over but are not allowed to go upstairs. Their grades are required to be A’s and B’s or they will be grounded (no phone, no playing game systems, no truck). Daniel disciplines the children with angry outburst and threats of violence. Although he has never physically harmed either child, they fear that one day he may cross the line and hit one. Tarea rarely disciplines the boys and would rather talk with them about what they did wrong and a way to fix it or a way to prevent it from happening again.…
