This policy also values permanency for children by reuniting them with their parents, or with another living arrangement that is permanent allowing the child to have a sense of belonging. There are many outside factors that contribute to successful family preservation such as: family support, time-limited family reunification and adoption promotion and support services. There are services that were made to help state child welfare agencies, meaning that this policy can be used in different areas around the world for example, eligible Indian tribes use preventive family preservation services and community-based family support services, they tend to use these for families at risk or in crisis or if the child is about to be moved to foster care. In addition, the state courts receive grants to improve foster care and adoption proceedings. It is important that the welfare and safety of children and of all family members should be maintained while strengthening and preserving the family. Now is when social and welfare workers really need to think, is the child in imminent danger or could coaching and providing resources to the family help. Just because a mother can’t take care of her child does not make her unfit as the old saying goes you can judge a book by its cover. This mother in this situation is doing the best she can and despite being hungry and dirty that child is okay he is not sick and he is happy because the amount of love and affection he gets from his mother. So pulling him away from her may do more harm than good. So in a situation such as this here is how family preservation would be carried out; First the worker of this case would hear about the problem than they would investigate to see if the information turned out to be turn. With permission from the family they would start family counseling, which is important because it allows social workers to meet the needs of the whole family verse one individual. After this is done the social worker will then research and provide to find resources that will benefit this family such as a community food drive, or discounted food.
