All About My Family

My immediate family is made up of my father Edward, my mother Melaine, and my brother Antorius. I also live with my grandparents William and Mary. I also live very close to most of my family members on my mother’s side. My great-grandfather split his farmland among his eight children. They each got two acres to build a house on for their family. Most of the children still live on the farmland, so I see most of my family members on a daily basis. Everyone in my family is very family-oriented. Because my brother is nine years younger than me, I was always there to help in caring for him. Every weekend, my family has a time where we all watch a movie or television together. We all gather on my parents bed. It is a simple activity, but we all enjoy it, and it keeps us close. Education is very important to my family. My parents always encourage my brother to do the best he can. Also, my brother’s school work comes first, and then the sports he plays. For me, my parents make sure that I have everything I need to succeed in college. Also, my parents expect me to work hard for everything that I have. When I was sixteen, I started working. I only made minimum wage, but I was expected to pay for my gas, and part of my car insurance. This helped me budget my money, and understand how much I could spend of each paycheck. The major one is cancer. There have been several women on both sides of my family that have had cancer. My aunt is now going through treatment for breast cancer. Because my aunt was so young compared to the average age of onset, it is most likely that there is a defect in the family genes. This means that I will most likely have cancer.
