Coupled with the educational reimbursement program at the hospital that I work for, I looked at possible options for my masters degree program. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, nurse practitioner job opportunities are expected to grow 34 percent through 2022. Becoming an FNP came in mind. As an FNP, I can specialize in so many areas like adult, family, gerontological, pediatric and women’s health. My expectation for this FNP program is to have full support and effective communication between the instructors and students. Clear information and direction on how assignments, paperwork or exam should be provided to students. An actual lecture online that can be viewed anytime and flexibility on exam date and time will be helpful since almost all students from any masters program are working at least part time. I expect to have strong and solid knowledge and skills needed to acquire a job as an entry level FNP.
The only reason that would keep me from finishing my FNP program is if I do not get accepted in the FNP program. If this happens, I will reapply again into the program. Working as a nurse and having a toddler at the same time while attending FNP masters program can be challenging. Time management would be one of the issues that I have to overcome. I am already preparing myself mentally to have sleepless night for studying. I need to find a balance when it comes to advancing my career and spending quality time with
