The word literacy refers to the ability to read and write. Dyer (2001) states that family literacy services are defined as “services that are of sufficient intensity in terms of hours, and of sufficient duration, to make sustainable changes in a family and that integrate interactive literacy activities between parents and their children.” This Family literacy program provide information and activities that do the following: provide interactive literacy activities for both parents and children, train parents to teach and assist their child in literacy, and present age appropriate education to ensure and prepare students for success in their education and life. The literacy program also offers parents long term support
