How Does Family Affect Society

From the beginning of one’s life, everything that they encounter impacts the person that they are in some way. An individual can control who or what they are around, but they cannot always control how something affects them. A person becomes shaped into their own identity by the impact of their family, occupation, and education. Family is the foundation of society, and it impacts everyone’s life in different ways. Parents teach their children many things, such as, from right to wrong, religious beliefs, how to interact with people, rules, and expectations. Concomitantly, parents teach their children by example. When children watch their parents make choices for themselves that teaches them what choices they should make. An individual obtains qualities such as how to be independent and support themselves. In the article “Working Life” Ramachandran states, “’By working, I was able to finance my living expenses and pay for books and clothes’” (269). Not only do individuals work to make their own money and learn what the adult world is like, they sometimes have to pay for their own things and support themselves without a family’s help. No matter where someone works, they have to be reliable in every way. As an employee, you have to arrive at your job on time, be courteous to others, and complete your task accurately. An average adult works more than they do sleeping, eating, resting, playing, having fun, or with their family, so an individual has to have qualities that fit their job environment to stay happy and love the job they do every day. With work comes responsibility, so it teaches one how to achieve being responsible and become more mature. Through work people find identity, status, and
