While teachers may be reaching out to families, these families may not be receiving the information in ways intended. The article Barriers to parental involvement in education: an explanatory model, by Hornby and Lafaele, looks at the factors that affect the involvement of family in education. While many parents and families want to take an active role in their students education, not all are capable of providing the essential support needed based on various factors. Hornby and Lafaele hit on topics related to the parent (feelings about school involvement, class, ethnicity, or gender, life contexts or barriers, perception of the invitation to participate) student factors (age, talents, difficulties, and behaviors) and factors between parents and teachers (goals, attitudes, language) societal factors (demographics, politics, economics). I feel, an easy way to do such, is technology. A simple way to include parents in the classroom and keep them up to date on student learning is through
