Family Health Assessment Focus in Gordon’s Eleven Functional Health Patterns According to Edelman, Mandle, & Kudzman (2014), “Families provide the structure for many health-promotion practices; therefore, family assessment informs health-promotion and disease-prevention appraisal” (p. 150). A complete and systematic family health assessment constitutes the base that allow nurses to collect and analyze pertinent information concerning each member of the family, their perception of health, current health status including, physical, emotional, social, cultural and environmental; as well as their influence in the rest of family as a whole system. Nurses play an essential role in family health promotion and restoration of health; and in this sense, the nursing health assessment set up the groundwork that enable nurses to shape an action plan to motivate and support the health of the family (Edelman, Mandle, & Kudzman, 2014). The X family declines to have big problems in this aspect. Mrs. X recognizes that lately, since she starts school, there have been some changes in this schedule and she has been to stay up late to finish homework, however she is working on getting to manage her time much better and she is going back to her regular schedule.
