Cowan made it clear to everyone, she wasn’t taking any “simple” actions from a sixth grader. Ms. Cowan was the type of teacher that made a kid cry everyday in her classroom. Ms. Cowan had us walking in the halls in a uniformed as if it was military school. When we first meet her on the first day of school she was not trying to get to know her new class. But, since it's a human instinct to seek attention from another human being. It was only fair for me to ask “ What is a “simple action” in your eyes?” Ms. Cowan response was “asking an unintelligent question just like yours...that is a simple action.” At this point in time I knew I wasn’t going to be her favorite student,. My expression was a deer caught in headlights. “ Well, I'm waiting and I don’t have all day for your simple action.” Her words stung like a parent lecturing your actions after you’ve broken their favorite item, after they specifically told you not to play with it. I finally came up with enough mental courage to say “ I don’t have it at the moment.” With a sinister look and a mixture of annoyance: she said “don’t go to lunch.” I didn’t like the sound of that at all. So I waited until class was over to find an opportunity to get out of no being able to go to launch. As her class was over and it was lunch time, she didn’t hesitate to call my mother. I quickly told her I a lie, I had it in my bag. Yes, I know it was stupid of me, but don’t call my mother for something irrelevant. So, I asked can I leave she said no. But, that is when it hit me my sister had my packet. I called my sister and she came with my work. From that day forward I needed to get on her good side. I volunteered for work and “assistance’ with the homework. Ms. Cowan became fond of how hard and humble I was trying to work to be a great student. I eventually became a “Morning helper,” and they help the teacher with work. From this day forward I was on the list of becoming her student
