Later, Antonia goes into a reminisce on her newly found love of the show. Peacocke ‘s essay inspired these two Narrative essay questions “ Have you had a similar experience as Antonia Peacocke when viewing Family Guy?” or “Have you ever had an initial opinion about someone or something and then changed your mind?” Yes, answering both questions at once. Cowan made it clear to everyone, she wasn’t taking any “simple” actions from a sixth grader. Ms. Cowan was the type of teacher that made a kid cry everyday in her classroom. Ms. Cowan had us walking in the halls in a uniformed as if it was military school. When we first meet her on the first day of school she was not trying to get to know her new class. But, since it's a human instinct to seek attention from another human being. It was only fair for me to ask “ What is a “simple action” in your eyes?” Ms. Cowan response was “asking an unintelligent question just like yours...that is a simple action.” At this point in time I knew I wasn’t going to be her favorite student,. I had never gotten a response from an adult like that in my entire life. Fast forward into the middle of the school …show more content…
My expression was a deer caught in headlights. “ Well, I'm waiting and I don’t have all day for your simple action.” Her words stung like a parent lecturing your actions after you’ve broken their favorite item, after they specifically told you not to play with it. I finally came up with enough mental courage to say “ I don’t have it at the moment.” With a sinister look and a mixture of annoyance: she said “don’t go to lunch.” I didn’t like the sound of that at all. So I waited until class was over to find an opportunity to get out of no being able to go to launch. As her class was over and it was lunch time, she didn’t hesitate to call my mother. I quickly told her I a lie, I had it in my bag. Yes, I know it was stupid of me, but don’t call my mother for something irrelevant. So, I asked can I leave she said no. But, that is when it hit me my sister had my packet. I called my sister and she came with my work. From that day forward I needed to get on her good side. I volunteered for work and “assistance’ with the homework. Ms. Cowan became fond of how hard and humble I was trying to work to be a great student. I eventually became a “Morning helper,” and they help the teacher with work. From this day forward I was on the list of becoming her student

Shining Library Book Me and classmates were told that we had to do something nice for the school. It wasn’t just our grade, it was the whole middle school who had to something. There were tons of jobs to be done just inside the building. When it was nice out, some of the 8th graders would go out and do the things outside, while the rest of us stayed inside. My job was organizing the bookshelf in the library.…

The journalist, Judith Martin, states “The greater the controversy, the more you need manners.” In other words, no matter a person’s position on someone’s beliefs, they should respect them regardless. Some people have a plethora of negative opinions of Family Guy, whereas others are huge fans. In Antonia Peacocke’s controversial essay, “Family Guy and Freud: Jokes and Their Relation to the Unconscious,” she portrays the belief that Family Guy is actually more logical and less ignorant, than people believe. I would have to agree with Peacocke because some people fear the things they do not understand, hence their dislike of Family Guy.…

The first thing I noticed when I walked into Jasmine Middle School was how big the eighth graders were. I knew that in middle school the sixth graders would be the babies, but it was still kind of a shock at how big eighth graders really were; well, at least I hoped the kids I was looking at were eighth graders. If the group of kids hanging out by the lockers were seventh graders, then eighth graders must be huge. Luckily, after looking around for a few seconds, I spotted my best friend, Georgina Larson by the water fountain. She’s never hard to find, because her hair is light blonde, and she’s always wearing really flashy outfits.…

In her article “Family Guy and Freud: Jokes and Their Relation to the Unconscious,” Antonia Peacocke discusses how those who watch the show Family Guy should realize the creators’ jokes should be viewed as what they are intended to be: a harsh reality rather than crude. Peacocke argues that when taken at face value, Family Guy’s humor could potentially be considered offensive. Instead, the creator Seth Macfarlane intelligently uses satire to mock American culture. The article is overall effective with one minor weakness. The article gains a majority of its effectiveness from the author providing her own personal experiences to help the reader relate to the topic at hand, and by pulling examples straight from the show to back up her argument.…

Whether it be on the radio, in person during stand up, or on television, comedy is an easy way to lighten the mood and make easy conversation out of controversial topics.
