This perspective is a micro-level one. Then there is conflict theory this theory focuses on the dysfunctional parts of society. Conflict theorist see society as a group of people fighting for scarce resources where the elites take everything oppressing those in the bottom of the social classes who struggle the most. At last functionalism this theory like the conflict theory is at a macro level. In contrast with the conflict theory where they focus on the negative aspects of society functionalist focus on how society work together as a whole to be functional. The way functionalist see family is as an important contributor to society. Because it socialized children which is where most of the socializing will come from, it also creates economic production, care for the sick and aged, recreation, sexual control, and reproduction.
