Family Ethnographic Interview

For my ethnographic interview I had the opportunity to interview a family friend, Linda. Linda is 31 year-old Asian Hispanic who has been married for 10 years with three children; twin boys who are 9 years old and a daughter who just turned 2 this month. Linda is currently a current Fresno State student who plans to become a social worker in the near future. Linda described herself as a “good parent who enjoys spending her leisure time by playing games with her children”. When I asked Linda to explain to me what a good parent is in her eyes, Linda told me that “being a good parent is trying there best to understand every children needs and desires because they are all very different.” Linda also informed me that being a good parent you need to connect and form a strong bond that consist of trust and honest with each child in the family. As stated previously, Linda discuss with me that whenever she was not busy she would play with her children. During my interview with Mao, she told me that because she had 7 children, it was very hard for her to have time to sit down and play with her 7 children because she was a housewife. While Linda’s children slept in their own bedroom and had there own bed. That was not the same case for Mao; Mao shared with me that when her children were still young they would share the bed with her and her husband until they were two years old and were then allowed to share bedrooms with their oldest siblings. Mao also said that her husband and her shared the bed with their youngest daughter until the age of seven because they knew that I was going to be their last child and they wanted to prolong having me with them for as long as
