Nowadays, the term “family” has evolved from its original definition as society views change. Family is usually defined as “group of two or more (one who 's head of household) related by birth, marriage, or adoption, and residing together”. Some people may describe family by including their closest friends or even pets. In some situations, people are not close to their family and might turn to their friends for various reasons. In my case, I am one of those people where I do not consider my “blood” family family for personal reasons. I stay closer to my friends and treat them as part of my family. My parents typically deem my friends family since my closest friends are loyal and have been there through my rises and downfalls.

With cultural norms, it is constantly changing, especially in this every-changing society. For example, with women having children outside of marriage is normal at the present time compared to back then. If a woman was pregnant a couple years ago, they would look her down and see her in a distinct light. A different culture norm that has been changed (and still changing till this day) is lesbian/gay, etc. couples adopting or having their own children through donors. This for sure would have not been accepted or even considered if it occurred back then. With couples undergoing these changes and more, economic support has to come up along with family matters. Back then, men would be the breadwinners and women would be waiting at home, waiting for their men to come home. Nowadays, this is also one of the biggest changes we have gone through throughout the years. Women are now in the workforce and working alongside men, but are being underpaid. I believe that we have come quite far so hopefully over time, we will be equally paid in the workforce. Women are also breaking down the stereotypes of paying for certain things that men usually pay for. For instance, men usually pay for dinner since that is usually how it goes. If a woman tries to pay the bill, it seems off or not normal since we are used to the idea of the man paying for it. For me, this is still unusual for me to grasp on since I was raised in a traditional household. I can happily say that I am open minded to changes like these and am currently trying to keep up with
