In the past few decades, the growing issue of global warming is causing spring to begin earlier with each passing year while the ongoing season is still supposed to be winter; this also causes a false spring to be experienced in some regions. A false spring is the climate change that causes a false state of spring where weather is extremely similar to springtime conditions, followed by freezing temperatures. During this brief period, plants begin their springtime duties only for winter weather to return later on. As the climate has grown to become warmer, the appearance of false springs is supposed to decrease across North America.

However, spring still begins earlier, the longer grow cycle for plants mismatches in phenology between them
