For instance in the book Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers on page 35, “ We got back to the camp. Two sergeants opened the barbed wired fence. They pulled the wounded man in.” Jenkins was a young soldier who was blown up by a mine on his way back to his company after a night patrol. In other words, Myers shows how dangerous the war is, he was just transferred and died soon after. Every time they go on a patrol they are risking their lives.
