Fallen: A Short Story

Fallen
After a stressful day, Aubrey decides to go up to the roof of her apartment building in the middle of downtown Seattle to admire the lights of the vast city. She navigates herself toward the edge and takes a seat, swinging her legs over and allowing her feet to dangle. Aubrey stares out at the traffic of people who were just leaving their work that evening. A loud horn from an aggravated taxi driver causes Aubrey to jump, which then follows with her shoe falling off of her swinging foot. She watches her blue sandal fall down the side of the ten story building and hit a man walking below. As heat rises to her cheeks, the man looks up to Aubrey and sees the reason for his startling. He hollers up, “Hey!”
“Sorry!” She yells back apologetically.

She would rather die than face this situation at the moment. Aubrey takes a moment to observe the man’s appearance. His dark chestnut hair that had a slight curl in it was messily pushed back into perfection. His mesmerizing eyes so green they were like a forest you could get lost in; and his tanned skin was a beautiful canvas of various tattoos. He couldn’t be any older than his twenties. He was tall, lean, and fit. Her thoughts were interrupted when he started shortening the distance between them. The next move he makes confuses her; without saying a word, the beautiful creature kneels down and grabs her bare foot. He secures the shoe back to its original place. He stands back up to his full height, towering over Aubrey. His height was definitely intimidating, but as this mysterious young man places each of his hands on Aubrey’s shoulders, his eyes pouring into her own, she assumes that he is harmless. When he begins to lean toward her, Aubrey thinks he is going to try and hug her. But instead, he hotly whispers in her ear, “It is not very nice to throw things at …show more content…
And that is not very polite.” He harshly hissed. He is not close enough that she can feel his hot breath against her already heated face, his scent almost as intoxicating as his eyes.
“This is not what it looks like,” she insisted; whimpering quietly from his tightening grip on her shoulders.
“Oh, but I think it is.” He chuckled with a tauntingly devious smirk plastered across his beautiful face, showing off a prominent dimple in his left cheek. He leans in once and she is shocked when he leans in toward her face this time rather than her ear. Her eyes widen in astonishment; what the hell is he doing?
She is stunned whenever she feels her body being pushed back. Her ankles hitting the ledge yet again and he leans in and kisses her cheek softly. His warm, plump, pink lips leave an invisible tattoo on her cheek that contrast to the windy air.
Before she knew what he was doing, Aubrey received one final push from his colorful arms and down she fell. Her last sight being his emerald eyes turning away from the ledge as he walked away, retreating back. With a final scream erupting from her throat, she hit the concrete
