In order to be an exemplary leader the authors, Kouzes and Posner, (2012), describe five practices that need to be implemented. Each practice defines leadership and what a leader should strive to perfect in being successful. To model the way shares the same concept of practicing what you preach, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012). The leading of a team or group is not a simple task but involves real life skills that take time, thinking and commitment. The role of leadership is an essential aspect of an organization since it can determine the difference between success and failure. “Although leaders are gifted in different ways, with different personalities and varying skill sets, all leaders can grow, become more skillful, and become more competent so that they can achieve greater effectiveness” (Ledlow & Coppola, 2014, pp. 10). At times, leadership may seem overwhelming and complicated, but by concentrating on specific fundamentals they will find that they can guide the team with the assurance and competence. Senior year is an important milestone in your life. Deciding what you want to do for the next four years is a daunting task, but choosing the right career path does not have to be difficult. If you are undecided about what degree program is right for you, I recommend a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. You may ask, “What can I do with a Liberal Arts degree?” According to the BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook, a degree in Liberal Arts offers students greater flexibility to explore different academic disciplines; design a curriculum that reflects your interests and talents, and develop marketable job skills (US Bureau of Labor Statistics).…

My leadership philosophy is one that is rooted in the strong belief that it must be a continuous quest to motivate all students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and lifelong learners, while possessing outstanding character. This includes assisting students with discovering their talents and interests, therefore developing a love of learning, while developing into ethical, productive citizens. Accomplishing this requires a leader who is knowledgeable in pedagogy and curriculum, including the use of data and current assessments to enhance instruction, and who possesses outstanding communication skills, the ability to manage an operation’s resources effectively, promotes collaboration and teamwork, and is passionate and committed to helping students learn. I believe that my interpersonal skills will be my biggest strength as an educational leader. Through frequent, honest communication, and my enthusiasm for the subject, I will demonstrate understanding and compassion for those around me, therefore building trusting relationships.…

Collaborative cultures are created with a set of goals, managed efficiently, and support team members at every stage in the process. Introduction As I reflect on this course and the results of the Questionnaires, Reflection, and Action Worksheets I have learned many aspects of leadership. I have analyzed the definition of leadership and now have a clearer understanding of it. According to, Introduction to Leadership; concepts and practice, by Peter Northouse (2015), leadership can be composed of many variables such as relationship, trait, ability, skill, behavior, and influence process. He also elaborates on how the “leadership of an individual can be used to influence a group to accomplish a common goal”. In addition, he discusses how leadership is not the same as management (Northouse, 2015, pp. 3-7).…

This memorandum describes my vision of leadership. Leadership starts with looking yourself in the mirror for the reflection of what others see and understand when you are leading them. A leader is not only the one who makes people follow him, a leader will understand his people, will care for their well being, will mentor and correct mistakes at the beginning so a punishment is not necessary at the end. A good leader is that person that everyone wants to be when they grew up. A leader not only leads a unit when at work, he leads his family at home, he influences everyone, everywhere, anytime.…
