Fall Semester: A Case Study

Throughout the Fall Semester I suffered from multiple injuries that affected my academics and attendance. In the beginning of the semester I experienced a dislocation of my left patella. This caused me pain during that month, which interfered with my attendance. On days that I didn’t suffer from knee inflammation I would be able to attend class. Following that I suffered from a severe concussion and a broken nose.The doctors preferred me to not do anything that made me concentrate or use my brain actively for a week. From there on I had a very difficult time concentrating on my tasks. It took me over five months to completely heal from that injury. A month later I dislocated my left patella while sleeping. This worsened my concussion and made it difficult for me to walk for a week. I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and PTSD in high school; this worsened due to the injuries. I felt isolated and couldn’t concentrate on my work. My panic attacks worsened and I couldn’t function properly. My insurance also ended, so I ended up off my medication because I couldn’t afford it. During the Spring Semester I continued to suffer from my concussion and knee pain. I was working two jobs, which were at the Home Depot and Just Desserts, …show more content…
I am seeing a nurse practitioner on Sept. 13, 2016 to review my medication to help reduce my anxiety. I have also seeked out help from Optimal Bear to help maintain a healthier lifestyle. My mental health has become stable again and I am seeking help from my resources to maintain it. My knee is now recovering and I will no longer suffer from knee pain or dislocations due to the surgery. My concussion has also healed and will no longer affect my studies. To help get my academics back on track, I plan on signing up for TRiO to help me with tutoring and to have a support system. I hope you consider my appeal and to allow my to succeed with The University of
