Everyone says Rome was so strong how did Rome collapse? The rulers Rome had where money hungry so they would tax the poor so they would become wealthy. The poor people did not like the way they were treated so they fled to a different land. The poor people made up most of the population in Rome and that became quite a problem for the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire finally noticed that the poor was leaving because they couldn’t pay their taxes so they changed the rules if the poor cannot pay their taxes that the collector would pay off the rest. That was okay for Rome they had everything under control, well that's what they thought. Rome had so much Surplus money they did not know what they were going to do with it but when Rome found what to do with the money they blew it all away and got in a lot of debt. Losing money was such a problem because Rome's Empire had such poor emperors that did not care. Rome also important lots of goods from other colonies and did not export as much as that came in. That created unbalanced trades, so the other colonies stopped relying on Rome for fishing good and did it on their own. When someone who came to a powerful Emporer someone would come in and assassinate the Emporer to take their spot or get someone else in their spot.
