The Fall of Germany After World War 1 Imagine celebrating the end of the war and getting to see your family members come home. You finally think your life is going to go back to normal after rationing off your food and worrying about your family in the war. But no, you fall into extreme poverty while the government is collapsing right in front of you. After the end of WW1, there were many major problems in Germany that caused mass chaos throughout the country. The first problem that Germany faced was all the human casualties from the war. WW1 has one of the biggest human casualties for Germany in history. Approximately 2,037,000 German soldiers were killed out of the 13 million that were fighting in the war (Whalen). This number stood out because 2,000,000 million men died in four years for just one country in the war. After the war, Germany's industrial output fell by 40% (“The Seeds”). One reason that the industrial output could've changed so much is because Germany spent $39 billion on the war (“The Seeds”). Due to the lack of money and men to work in the factories, the effects one the German economy were well shown. One solution that came about was that women could work in the factories. There was a rise of women in the factories by 37% in the years after the war (“The Seeds”). As you can see, in the years after WW1 there were many problems that caused mass chaos throughout Germany. Some people think that once a war ends the problems will immediately go away, but that isn’t anywhere near the truth.
