Fall Dance Concert Report

The Fall Dance Festival took place at the Texas Tech Maedgen Lab theatre on November 18, 2016 at 7:30 pm. I watched the ladies dance while listening to the music. The music did not sound exactly the same to me as it did to other members who were able to hear. I was late and did not catch a seat in the center of the theatre, which is the seating I prefer because it allows me to hear between my left and right side of hearing. I had to sit on the right side of the auditorium instead. The place looked dark with the black in front of me. They only had a few lights…. The lights went out before they started to dance.
Soft music started as the lights brightened up. By this time, a lady in white lightly skipped to the center of the stage and began

I realized that they were acting as Marines! Because the background sounds as tooting in the morning, it does sound like a Marine theme, because they wore green and black clothes. The Music background was the sound of a drum. They walked in backwards. Then they fell down as if they had passed out then got up and danced as zombies before turning into a Marine. The background music sounded like an orchestra. The girls bowed down then lifted one girl up. Finally, they put their heads down and then they marched out as the stage went black once …show more content…
They acted like puppets being led by somebody and then they started to spin around. They began to get down then started rolling, the background music fell silent before they started clapping while moving. One of girls walked up to us and started speaking, which I couldn’t understand. They resumed the dance and they played as if sand was right in their hand! They paused for a moment then a second girl walked in front of us to speak again before returning to dance. They were clapping and dancing and then laid down. A third girl walked up and spoke before they clapped as they got up. The background sound was the Toot horn slowly. The Blue light turned on, as other light looks as sunset, a girl joins and rose like a puppet. They fell down then laid back down before getting up slowly. Other girls joined to help get up and give hugs. An angel helped a girl then 3 zombies came to the angel girl. Finally, by the time the lady raised both hands up, the lady signed Jesus’ name in American Sign Language before raising her hands up

On May 10th, I had the opportunity to the “The Stony Brook Roots Ensemble. This was my first experience witnessing traditional American music played live. The venue and the ambiance were completely different from my time at the orchestra at the Staller Center. The performance took place in the Wang Center Chapel, which had surprisingly great acoustics than expected. At the orchestra there was very strict etiquette when in attendance, where one must be incredibly quiet in order to not disturb anyone else.…

The tempo was medium/slow and the style was Latin/Salsa. The song included a cha cha beat, an improvised solo by Peter, who was scat singing, and a drum solo. This song was pretty fun, not only was the tempo upbeat but the audience also played a part in the performance by adding in syncopation. The last song Richland High played is called Love Makes the World go Round by The Ritz. The tempo was a medium/slow and there was numerous solos.…

Very few famous performers nowadays can integrate showmanship with their music. In the 70’s a musical group by the name of Parliament took the music world by storm with their out of this world appearance and their own rendition of Funk music. Parliament was one of the key pieces in the development of funk music and modern music as well. They created what we know as P-Funk today that was a key element of the foundation of Hip-Hop. For my concert report I analyzed Parliament’s 1976…

As the show progressed, more and more people danced to the front of the concert hall or even went on stage to dance with the band. The Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra was not an exclusive group, but they invited others to enjoy the music with them, which allowed the performers to become closer and more connected with the audience. This reflects the ideology of music in African cultures because the separation between the performers and the audience is nonexistent. The orchestra certainly allowed the opportunity for a bridge to be built to the audience. Another similarity between the performance of the orchestra and African music performance was the performer’s dance.…

It was a concert in which singers performed songs and the music director played the piano. Since the concert was held in the auditorium the sound was evenly distributed for everyone to enjoy. The piece was about the individual lives of a group of teenagers (the most prominent is a boy named Tom who is humiliated through two videos that go viral on the Internet) and the misuse of social media. Although it was of the drama genre, it did feature some comedic elements, such as Tom's Charleston dance. It's main themes were LGBT awareness and social media. The styles of the piece, which was set in the present day, were abstract and naturalistic. The target audience were Year 7 pupils, who watched it in the school hall where the piece was performed on the stage (the performace space).…

In "Barbie Girls vs. Sea Monsters," Michael Messner discusses a "magnified moment" of everyday gender role socialization. Gender role socialization is "the subtle, pervasive process of becoming masculine or feminine" (Ferris and Stein 248) Children are socialized into gender roles through families, schools, peers, and the media, as well as other social institutions. Messner observes how a group of four- and five-year-old children construct gender as they begin their first season in an organized soccer league. Before the opening ceremony of the soccer league, the Barbie Girls began performing gendered behavior as they rallied around their team 's Barbie float and began singing a Barbie song.…

Then her mother runs behind the dad and her arms wrap around his shoulder and torso and her hands clasp, and together they make a pretend seat belt around the father. The music gets very dramatic, after they make the pretend seatbelt the father jolts as if he’d been hit. He kicks the table that was in front of him with his feet, and there were pieces of mirrored glitter that fly up that give the effect as if the glass had been shattered. The music gets louder and more dramatic as it’s showing the glitter being flown everywhere and the father getting back up from being jolted forward. He gets up with a soft…

My mood was jubilant that day because I was glad I came to that performance instead of staying home. I would have felt home sick with all that final review so it was pleasant and peaceful having entertainment for such a low cost but great performance. The movements I identified were a lot of the terms I went over in dance class from degage to grand battement, the list goes all over. The name of the performance should be called “The Art of Adventure” and it should be divided into subgenres which focuses on the main theme adventure. Adventure can be dim or bright but they always seem to have a long lasting well produced ending.…

I attended the Stones River Chamber Players on February 29th. This was played in the Hilton Music Hall. When I was going in I did not know what to expect because I have never been to a music concert on the MTSU campus. There were around 60-70 people who attended this concert. Most of the individuals who attended were more than likely there for a class because more than half were students who did not understand the concept of staying off of their phone.…
