Fall Break Reflection

Improved Essays
This week was a little difficult not because of school because it is the week before fall break. Last year, did not have fall break due to basketball, but this year I did. (The week of September the twenty- sixth to October the second.) My mind was not on anything school this entire week, but I knew if I wanted my behavior to stick I would have to keep it up. The week was not that bad. All my teacher were taking notes and just getting ready for mid-terms after fall break. Thursday we had project to present and my group got together and went over their parts a couple times. Even though on Friday I had quiz in one of classes that I didn’t study for the night before I already knew the material because I had being studying the days before that. …show more content…
Everything went downhill after that. I told myself I would make flashcards for one of classes’ midterms and I would make a study guide for the other mid-term I have after fall break. Over fall break I did not do any work, I did not look at my planner, and I did not get ready for the next month. Over the break all I did was hangout with friends and workout with my basketball trainer. Now for the week to come I will be stressed because I have two big test that I have not prepared or even started studying for. Plus, on top of that I have to finish writing the last couple pages of this project. So the mid- term for Wednesday I have to cram because I did not follow what I had on my planner or my do list over fall break. Overall I think my week was a big disappointment of trying to change my conduct. After this week, I think I went back to contemplation stage because I am still trying to figure out what will make me do better with trying to change my behavior. Furthermore, the contemplation stage is when you are getting involved in some of the activity. At the end of this week I showed no trying to fix my behavior, but in the beginning I think I was trying to fix my

This week was the best week I had all semester. It was a glorious week for me, to say the least. I was able to finish the written assignment, study hard for my quiz, and also be able to get an awesome grade for my quiz. I thoroughly enjoyed this week. First of all, for the reading assignment, I had to read section 8.1 called, "System of Linear Equations: Gausssian Elimination".…

This week was fun for me because I made the soccer team and we had a fun week of practices. We had much less homework this week than the previous week which was very fortunate because my brother and I had their grade’s curriculum nights so I was not getting home until eight thirty. There were three quizzes/tests this week which was a little rough but I think I got through them well. I thought that the Socratic seminar in LA was a little bit of a dud because…

On the 8th of October, I was given an assignment to find the book Why Things Bite Back by Edward Tenner. When I find the book I have to answer the question of how many pages are in chapter 12. I originally wanted to do this task right away, but little did I know that my mind had other ideas. When class ended, I went to my introduction to college class and thinking about how I would handle it. So I devoted my entire focus to that problem for the entire class period.…

Friday was the big test day. When I entered the classroom, I overheard some of my peers lament about how tired they were from staying up so late trying to study. I was confident that I would do great, and yet a small part of me was still nervous that I would fail. When our instructor handed out the tests only the sound of pencil scratching paper could be heard. When we completed our tests we were allowed to leave, so when I finished mine I was out in a flash.…

The biggest change I have made this semester is taking on a creator mindset/attitude. You could ask anyone that knows me and they would say I have a pessimistic attitude. I would always joke and say I’m a pessimist because I’m either right or I’m pleasantly surprised. Simple having the negative thoughts floating around in my head constantly has certainly been a dead weight holding me down.…

I was an average middle schooler: average in sports, academics, and in confidence. Being average caused me to doubt my abilities and have a negative view of myself. This took a turn, however, when I tested into Algebra a year early during the beginning of eighth grade. When this happened, I felt above average, like I was finally excelling at something. This didn’t last long because Algebra was a tough class that tested my abilities and my mind to their capacity.…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…

College Success Skills #2 At the beginning of this semester, my main goal was to work on my habit of procrastination. I wanted to manage my time better with the use of a planner and make myself sit down and do my homework or study ahead of time so that I wouldn’t be as stressed out and could have time to have fun with friends without worrying about an assignment or test. At first I was doing an okay job, but soon I found myself falling back into my old habits.…

Aly Daniels Journal #1 Thoughts from the Week: The week seemed to take forever, once I entered the classroom. However, the favorite part of my day is the end of math, right before I leave for the day. This is my favorite part of practicum because it is a time when I actually get to work with, help, and interact with the students. This week was especially amazing because I helped a student who normally becomes frustrated during math.…

Meditation/ mindfulness exercises are something I have wanted to incorporate into my life weekly. The first time I have even done a mindfulness exercise was in counseling with my therapist. I would do it once a week before every session. I found it really helpful to start out each session with a quick five-minute exercise. Without even knowing I went through four of the five stages in the transtheoretical model: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, and action.…
