Fall And English Class Analysis

Improved Essays
It is first day fall and English class is about to begin. Like always, I am the last person to stroll in and I sit in my usual seat, the chair neighboring the door. The teacher welcomes me with his normal, accented hello as I sit down and he starts discussing about correct MLA format. My mind begins to get distracted and my thoughts take over, causing me to dose off. I start to gaze at the other students in my class and I realize it is strange to think I spend every Monday and Wednesday with them, yet the only thing I know about these people around me is how they look and act every day.
There is this girl who sits in the front of the class room. Her hair is blonde and it is curled as usual. She always dresses nice, no matter what her mood

We would read then analyze various books through the year such as the Odyssey, Like Water for Chocolate, and Night by Elie Wiesel. After we finished analyzing the different books, we would write an essay expressing our thoughts of a particular viewpoint the author conveyed. We had then completed the book Things Fall Apart and were assigned to pick a meaningful quote from the book and write a 5-paragraph essay, which was due the next day. My teacher allotted us the entire ninety-minute of class to work on the essay that was due the next day under the condition that we were mostly silent. There were 32 other students in the class, which means even when the class was supposed to be silent there were always various noises.…

I found the nearest parking spot, ran into the building, managing to pull out my books for chemistry, and ran up to the 5th floor all before the instructor, Professor Jason, started his next lesson on the structure of proteins-- oh great, something that was sure to put me back to sleep. Instead of falling asleep I started to daydream about what I was going to do when I go back to Maine to see my family and friends. Professor Jason never seemed to notice that I wasn’t paying attention, then again, there is over 60 adults in my class all trying to get by to make a living in this big city. It’s only a quarter after seven when the professor decides to dismiss the class to move on to our next block, I had the next hour off before I had to attend…

Surviving English Comp 1 Writing Class Writing is one thing I hate the most. It was hard to write an essay for the first time because I did not have the knowledge or concept of this writing style. Before this class, I thought I knew what writing was all about by expressing my thoughts, ideas and feeling. I know now that I had the wrong concept on how to write. I can express my thoughts, ideas and feeling, but if I put them in the wrong contents it does not lead the reader to the point of the essay.…

Some of the students were assigned to a table to work with the other teacher.…

If someone were to ask me “Do you deserve an A in British Literature Honors?”, I would say yes, because I have demonstrated I understand the material and can use what I have learned. Despite being a transfer student being accepted a week before school dealing with summer assignments, making new friends, and learning the ropes of my new school, I still have managed to comprehend and use what I learn in this class. The reason we go to school and get good grades in classes is to educate ourselves and apply it in real life, and our grades are supposed to show others that we are capable and educated people. I feel that I am educated and capable in British Literature, and I deserve my grade to reflect that. I wholeheartedly believe that I deserve an A in this class.…
