Nonprofits leaders should institute changes gradually, especially in non-critical areas, to make it easier for board members, staff, and members to engage in the process, utilize their skills and knowledge, and ensure their cooperation. Making changes too quickly can lead to major confusion and annoy staff and members. While Falender focused on pushing changes in the organization, he effectively presented the process to board members and staff as an advantage to the organization’s mission, financial health, efficiency, and productivity. A strategic plan serves as the blueprint for the organization, keeps board and staff members focused on the same goals, and provides decision-making guidelines that help allocate resources effectively. To implement the Vision 2000 effectively, Falender needs to progress his plan to increase revenue through development areas such as special project revenue, increasing membership, and expanding fundraising activities, while maintaining the organization's accountability and effectiveness. To increase revenues and funds, Falender may also hire paid professional consultant, to work on their own or be part of the organization, who would help in their marketing and advertising skills, experience, knowledge, or access to information. In addition, to maintain consistency in the organization’s budget and its accounting procedures and reporting, it is very important to develop accounting system that can be used by all chapters and help in managing the organization’s finances and reporting financial activities. This consistency will allow the organization to synthesize information, monitor the organization’s income and expense, and comply with reporting requirements.
