1. Executive Summary

After attending the Food Safari field trip in Week 3, there were many Middle Eastern foods, ingredients that was tried and consumed. The food that will be explored in this report will be Falafel. Falafel is a Middle Eastern dish that is eaten alone or as a snack. This report will examine what falafel is and how they make it in today’s society, the history of falafel and the difference between the past and present of falafel. All resources are researched through credible sources. The key findings in this report are to see how falafel has changed in the recent years till today.

It is the second most common dish eaten in many Mediterranean and Arab countries made from chickpeas. It is then formed into a ping pong sized ball and placed in a deep fryer to fry until it’s brown and crispy and the inside is still moist. It was invented 1,000 years ago by the Egyptian Copts. Falafel can be found everywhere in the world however it has been massively popular in North America because of the taste, easy to consume and a great source of protein especially for vegetarians or people who doesn’t like
