Lastly, Casey was asked to describe her sense of meaning and purpose in life. She shared what she wanted to be when she grows up and her plans after graduating from high school. Casey was asked to reflect on how she views the purpose of life and what it means to her. She reported what types of things bring her peace, joy, and inspiration. Casey was asked about people in her life she trust and depends. It was inquired if Casey had any specific personal or family religious or prayer practices. Casey described her plans for after graduation and her career aspirations. She stated she was still undecided but was interested in becoming a hair and makeup artist although she has not had much practice or experience in this area. Casey meets requirements for this diagnosis as she presents a minimum of five of the symptoms in the criterion. Casey’s symptoms include; loss of interest or pleasure, depressed mood, significant weight loss, feelings of worthlessness, and diminished ability to think or concentrate, and recurrent thoughts of death. These symptoms are as evidence by her becoming withdrawn, agitation, uptight, considerable weight loss, rapid decline in academic grades, and suicidal ideations. For the reasons that Casey meets a minimum of five symptoms listed in Major Depressive Disorder, and since the onset of the combination of the symptoms has been for less than one month, Casey meets eligibility for Mild Major Depressive Disorder. Casey will be included with the development of treatment goals. She will assist in determining which problem behaviors she would like to focus on primarily. Identifying Casey’s strengths, resiliency, and current readiness to change makes her an active agent in her treatment
