J’me In The Crucible Arthur Miller talks about faith and truth. Arthur Miller writes as though truth meant as much as a lie. In the Crucible Elizabeth Proctor is seen as the most honest woman ever, but when she lies the one time in her life that the reader sees, it causes a downfall of events. Elizabeth Proctor’s husband, John Proctor, is accused of witchcraft and is hanged after Elizabeth Proctor’s white lie. Her white lie from all the truth she usually told shows Arthur Miller’s perspective of truth as the importance of a lie no matter how big or small. Mary Warren went to tell the truth to Deputy Governor Danforth and Judge Hathorne, when Abigail and the other girls started to act like Mary Warren possessed them, so she got scared and started to lie again.
