The company’s factory is in China and that makes difficult to be completely “fair” in such a challenging environment (Fairphone, Care Social Assessment report,2013). In terms of celebrating diversity there are some aspects of the corporate social responsibility that need enhancement. From an assessment in 2015 by team members of TAOS, the assessment partner of Fairphone, issues related to safety and health operations on the workfloor were identified. The fire safety, the functionality of the emergency doors, lack of signs on the doors, the fact that some workers were not wearing protection masks against carbon and some other issues were not compliant to regulations (Social assessment program: Hi-p, 2015).
