Among one of my favorite personal choices of ethical footwear is called Inkkas. Such as the name of the brand as stated in their mission statement their shoes are crafted with respect for the environment and the local artisans of Peru who make them. Teysha’s hub is based just outside of Antigua, Guatemala. Their motto is powerful yet simple one, “"Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime.” Powered by a team of microfinance and international development professionals the premise of Teshya is this, “Rather than give handouts or donations to communities in need, we believe in creating opportunities for these communities to use their talents and drive for the betterment of their own lives” as stated in their Social Impact statement. Beyond the main workshop lies a grassroots network of Women operated cooperatives, small businesses, and artisan groups that craft Teysha’s woven textiles by hand. The artisans work their crafts in their homes or communities. As a direct result 66+ families are financially supported through Teysha. Aside from Guatemala, Teysha further work with gifted artisan groups in Panama and Mexico. 100% of the wages goes to the respective artesans. Teysha offers rubber boots, slip ons, heels, sandals, bags, blankets, pillows, AND a buyer has the ability to customize their own
