Fair Hiring Gap Analysis

I totally agree with Ann Morrison’s assumptions and while there are some improvements in areas such as the opportunities for education, and laws that support fair hiring such as Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, discrimination still happens. “Although the specific barriers to advancement differ from one organization to another, their effect is the same.” (pg 242) I believe all cultures have the issue of feeling more comfortable when dealing with one’s own kind, however, it is more promote when you have a larger number of one race or sex in management which results in the hiring decision. Unfortunately, we live in a world where it’s who know and not what you know also known as the “good ole boy network”. If you are not a part of the network it’s hard to break through in most companies. In many case minorities and females are on the rise when it comes to filling the lower level positions. However due to the years of being shut out, there are fewer role models in upper …show more content…
It’s the fact that a lot of them are being eliminated before evening making it to the interview stages because of reasons that are not legitimate but solely beliefs of those in leadership roles. Then the few who make it through the hiring processes are scrutinized and held to a different standard than their counterparts which often leads to their departure rather voluntarily or forced. These are things I have experienced firsthand however I do believe there are developments in a lot of companies. As more leadership programs are developed, more minorities and women are promoted, and individuals are held accountable for their actions it will force light to be shed on the injustice actions. I believe diversity adds an enrich ingredient to the success of most organizations and is important to have a representation of everyone regardless of race, sex, sexuality, religion,
