Mediation and its natural result, negotiation, are processes of finding possible solutions to end the conflict. Mediation, however, offers tools via a third party to overcome many problems embedded in conflict situations that otherwise could be detrimental for future peace agreement (Greig & Regan, 2008). Although mediations provide potential solutions to finish the conflict, they are not always be successful and there are many cases of failure of peacemaking efforts. From 1950 to 1990, almost half of negotiated settlements broke down within five years.
