Personal Narrative Why is failure the best teacher? I am going to answer this question using personal stories as examples. Failure is the best teacher because no matter what it changes a person, if someone fails and gives up it shows them that they didn’t really want to succeed badly in the first place, if someone fails and uses their failures to then succeed than they learned what it took to make their endeavour go right. We learn from failure by deciding how we are going to react to it and depending on that reaction, it can be a large change, or a small change.

First, a failure to complete a simple task can lead to change in a person whole perspective or worldview changing. For example, when I was 10 years old I had no problems getting up for school in the morning, my brothers on the other hand were always acting as if they were heavily sleep deprived and if they had to get up and drag themselves to school they might die. Some of my brother’s antics included, always hitting the snooze button, falling asleep in the shower,

Then, I started high school and my classes increased in difficulty drastically from what they used to be I now dreaded going to school as my brothers did, having to sit through long class periods, having to memorize information for a test which I would most likely forget the week after it, having to put op with a large amount of people I wasn’t fond of. And then one morning, I hit the snooze button on my alarm for the first time and I started to miss the bus and before I knew it I had turned right into my brothers without even realizing it. Through my failure to wake up during my alarm I had learned that I didn’t understand my brother’s actions because I hadn’t experienced them myself. This experience or failure

Why we need to fail in order to succeed in life. The article “Fail- Safe Students” by Scott Carlson is about a student named Coleman Fitch and how he almost got kicked out of college. He received a letter from his college saying he had failed out and the Fitches immediately set up a meeting with the school and got Coleman readmitted. If young students do not experience failure they will not learn the meaning of being successful. Not everyone would be lucky enough to get readmitted.…

Even though telling students my failure story was challenging for me, in the end, I inspired them to excel academically. My story encouraged them to begin their college experience with high grades and not follow my example of having a 2.8 or any G.P.A that is considered low in their respective majors. In my everyday life, I tell my stories to friends who are struggling with their education and offer them the support they need to improve. I believe that telling my story of resilience has had a positive impact on people’s lives as it inspires them not to give up since…

Upon referencing failure, Keith Peters feels it can be a motivator to succeed. When detailing his own experience with failure in his video: Our Schools Should Teach Kids to Fail, Peters revealed that he had breezed through high school, earning high marks with little effort. Upon attending university however, assignment after assignment was met with failing grades. Because the author did not learn to experience or be inspired by failure, he threw in the towel and quit. Only after experiencing his own failure did he recognize the benefit that failure could bring.…

“You cheated”, slipped from my mouth. I was referring to my English Class. Frustration, filled my voice as I was disappointed in myself because I received a B. In my life I have only ever got one B and for reasons beyond my control and to complex to be explained. However, this B feels like my first real B. It resembles the first course that has ever conquered me. The whole time I have been striving to get A’s not for my gpa but for myself because it was something attainable that I was certain I could accomplish and that seemed to solely rest upon me.…

Failure has always been a huge aspect in my life recurring in everything I indulge myself in; whether it be academically, athletically, or even Boy Scouts. I tend to have a knack for challenging myself till I am unable to complete the task given to me, whilst this could be good in some ways it also puts me in some not favorable situations. More recently I had the thought of completing a bike race , after receiving medical attention for a concussion and a broken collarbone. This was not necessarily the smartest decision on my part, especially since the race was longer than I have ever raced before and also a three day event.…

Failure can be our greatest teacher. It teaches us skills and knowledge which cannot be learned in a classroom - skills and knowledge that are not only necessary to thrive in college, but also essential to flourish our characteristics needed to become successful in life. Specifically, the most important attributes failure can teach us are determination, patience, and resilience - qualities that are vital in keeping up with the rigor of college. As stated by Perez in his article, “The lessons of failure can’t be taught in a classroom; they are experienced and reflected upon.” This means that the lessons we learn from failure are not just ordinary knowledge which we can get from anywhere else; they come within ourselves.…

The following is an excerpt from a journal entry I wrote on June 23, 2015, reflecting on my junior year. “I had many expectations for junior year. I was determined to be a fantastic student and first time officer. As the year progressed, these expectations ended up fading and the routines of everyday life became dull, so much so that by the new-year I had lost myself. I allowed my relationships to turn into acquaintances; I subjected myself to a pattern of non-improvement with my schoolwork.…
