Failing Test

For the past twelve years, I have had my shares of teachers, classes, peers, and test. However, my journey is nowhere near over since I began a new chapter entitled college. All throughout school, we have to go to class, and learn material that we question if we are ever going to use again in life. After learning such rigorous material, we then are faced with the dreadful necessity to perform the task of taking a test. These test are used to acquire the knowledge of the student after learning the new material. After taking the test, the student contemplates on whether he or she passed or failed. Well I personally try my hardest to pass my test by studying and using multiple resources. However, sometimes I prefer not to study and just take the easy road. Honestly, I suggest more people to try this method because it decreases stress, and anxiety. The easy road I am referring to is failing a test. All you have to do is receive the …show more content…
The day has finally come to go and take the test you have been preparing for. So you go to class and retrieve the test. Once you get the test make sure to write your name to make sure the teacher gives you the correct failing grade. So, the key is to put the wrong answer for almost every question. Now, this should be pretty easy due towards all of the previous steps already taken. You should be able to fly through the test in a breeze. All you have to do is read the question and guess. This is a very simple process. Instead of being like everyone else in the class that are sitting there debating on which is the correct answer, or even for the over achiever people I referred to earlier. By not caring about what truly is the right answer you are able to finish your test earlier than everyone else. Now, I suggest the option of marking at least 4-6 questions with the right answer to show that some attemption was made. After finishing your test, you are now able to turn it in stress

High stakes testing is not a proper indication of a student’s success in life. Success is something that is acquired, or earned by an individual, not by memorizing information that predicts their future. To be successful, many short and long term goals are required. Planning goals that motivate thyself is a key to success; being unable to graduate high school and start life’s journey, is the complete opposite of success and is very damaging to the mind. ^2Tests are not going to prepare you for life, but stress you out and waste…

Wendy Kopp once said “Our teachers are operating just as effective leaders in the business world do. They set a vision that most people think is crazy. They convince the kids why it's important to accomplish the goal. And they are totally relentless.” It is because I have had many teachers push and challenge me to do my best that the business world is in my line of sight.…

Standardized testing is a way to unjustly put a number on a child and judge them on such number. In school children remember information that they know will be tested on in which after the test they vomit out the information and forget it in order to study for the next test. It is also a thing that adds stress and can hurt children every year. This system of testing needs to be adjusted in order to measure the true skills of children.…

Most of the conversations surrounding standardized testing consist of test averages and state rules. Students actually taking the exam are often left out and not addressed. Standardized testing became the norm across public schools with the passing of George W. Bush’s No Child Left Behind Act in 2002. The policy was set up to establish an accountability system for all states regarding failing educational systems and the children they were impacting.…

Most people are not comfortable with silence. I am. Freshman year of high school was not a pleasant time in my life. I was a decidedly reserved child who worked best in silent solitude. We all have difficult journeys to go through, but how you handle them reveals who you truly are. As I have moved in literacy, I have faced some struggles, such as failing my standardized test and failing my English class. I have never been a good writer, which I know that, but I also have improved over the years. I have never tried to be a literate person, but when I entered my senior year I knew I had to do something different. When I read these passages, I thought about the odds that these people faced and how they never gave up.…

The year of ninth grade, when I took my first Advanced Placement classes, was also one of my most frustrating years. In ninth grade, I enrolled in AP Physics and AP Human Geography. During my elementary and junior high career, I was used to not doing as much work to get A's in my classes. I was ignorant to think those same methods would get me through what was essentially a college course. After receiving my first test back in Human Geography, I was petrified to see my first C on a test.…

In his book, Letters to a Young Teacher, Jonathan Kozol addresses the issues with administering high-stakes tests to elementary students. High-stakes testing is one of the most controversial matters in education and, in my opinion, one of the most detrimental aspects to a child’s education. Federally mandated standardized tests prove to be an ineffective means of gauging academic success as they negatively impact the quality of instruction students receive, increase stress levels of both teachers and students, and create wider educational gaps between school districts. The prevalence of high-stakes testing drastically increased with the passage of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), a piece of legislature with the objective that…

Have you noticed that many freshmen college students have a hard time adjusting to college classes? Do you know the reason for it? Well, it is because most high school teachers only teach their students enough in order to graduate. So, adjusting to actually studying and putting much effort on the work is harder for college students, especially since college classes are much harder and work at a much faster pace. One way teachers can grab the attention of students, is by "revealing the trump card of failure (Sherry pg.713).…

Before I saw it coming these finals came along, and those endless frustrating study sessions would come to an end. I had several exams from different subjects that I was worried about, but I was not nearly as worried about them as my math final. In the end of these exams I did pass my final exams with a fairly decent percentage although, I had that one final exam to worry about and that was the math final.…
