Fail-Safe Student By Scott Carlson Summary

Why we need to fail in order to succeed in life. The article “Fail- Safe Students” by Scott Carlson is about a student named Coleman Fitch and how he almost got kicked out of college. He received a letter from his college saying he had failed out and the Fitches immediately set up a meeting with the school and got Coleman readmitted. If young students do not experience failure they will not learn the meaning of being successful. Not everyone would be lucky enough to get readmitted. Student Solomon Williams, started off as a fail student, at 19, he realized what he had done was wrong and wanted to become successful. Solomon took his GED test, scored high and got enrolled there with a scholarship. I believe that it is important that students should experience failure but not to the point where they might not be lucky enough to get back up.

My personal experience with achieving success was in high school. My senior year was the most difficult year of all because of all the college applications and taking many tests and not missing deadlines were stressing me out, dance rehearsals were getting much more difficult since I couldn’t focus anymore, I wasn’t able to pick up choreography as quick and that would cause me to get frustrated. I wasn’t getting any rest. I did not do homework for about two weeks straight and saw how badly it affected my GPA. I was so close to quitting everything I couldn’t take it anymore all I wanted to do was rest for a long time and not have to worry about anything. Seeing how badly my grades went down scared me because I heard university’s do not accept people with grades under a “C” and that made me change I realized that sometimes failing or almost failing will help you achieve

I worked exceedingly hard and got all my assignments in. I vowed to myself that I would never get a B in Tech again and that I would get above a 99 in the second marking period. In the second marking period when we had any type of test or quiz I would study for it regularly even if it was a typing test and I knew I would get a hundred on it. In the second marking period I ended up with a 99.52 to end the marking period. This just proves if you’re touch and you never give up you can accomplish a lot of goals in life.…

Even though telling students my failure story was challenging for me, in the end, I inspired them to excel academically. My story encouraged them to begin their college experience with high grades and not follow my example of having a 2.8 or any G.P.A that is considered low in their respective majors. In my everyday life, I tell my stories to friends who are struggling with their education and offer them the support they need to improve. I believe that telling my story of resilience has had a positive impact on people’s lives as it inspires them not to give up since…

Failure is the product of the inability to achieve a certain goal, outcome, or satisfactory result. The feeling you get from failing is a gut wrenching pain that isn't easy to get rid of. It can disrupt a person’s life and make them second guess themselves and all they have went through. I have also had a profound taste of failure in my sports, work, and school life. But while failures can make life miserable for a moment they can change your outlook on life, help you recover from, and make you realize that if you apply yourself you have a greater chance at accomplishing your goals.…

Failure can occur at any point while striving towards the goal, as any attempt at succeeding involves multiple steps, and each step requires successful completion. Failure is expected, and it is because of failure that perseverance and determination show in additional attempts at success. The more often a person fails and takes a second chance, the stronger he or she becomes, and his or her chance at ultimately succeeding and reaching his or her goal increases dramatically. Without failure, success would not have any meaning, and the achievement has a greater significance if it required hard work. It is also through mistakes and upsets that the right way is learned.…

Everyone has a different perspective and interpretation about failure. Some people see failure as an unpleasant thing or a limitation of their capabilities, while others see failure as a learning opportunity or a guide on how to become better. For example, in the article, “Want to Get Into College? Learn to Fail,” the author, Angel B. Perez, implies that failure should not be feared because it is not as harmful as most people think it is. He points out that failure is necessary if we want to succeed in college and in life.…

Everyone learns and studies differently so in order to really succeed you must find what works for you, and how to keep everything in order. It took me forever to really understand I needed to find my own organization and study tactics. Along with organization the need to use my failures to rise up in my classes really led me to maintain high grades. In my edblog “Failure” I discuss the troubles of failure and how to use it to construct a foundation for school. I find I learn more from failures than excelling grades, because it shows that not everything can be handed to you and that I needed to step up, change what I had been doing, and learn new things in order to help me succeed.…
