Taking Action Is Better Than Inaction
John F. Kennedy once said, “There are risks and costs to action. But they are far less than the long-range risks of comfortable inaction.”[1] I agree that taking action is better than inaction. In Fahrenheit 451, Montag decides to take action to change the society and try to let people realize the importance of books. No matter what the result is, at least he tried to do something to make a difference. On the other hand, one example of inaction in Fahrenheit 451 is Faber. First, taking action is not easy, but it makes a difference. Most people hesitate when it comes to making changes, whether they are big or small. Some hesitate because they think they would fail, and it takes too many risks to make changes. On the other hand, the others may have lack of motivation to make changes, or maybe they think there’s no meaning for them to make changes. However, if you want to be successful, or achieve things that you wanted to, the first thing that you have do is to step out of your comfort zone and try to take action. The risk of inaction is much worse than taking action. It’s true that it takes a risk for you to do something, but if you do nothing then at the end you will regret it. While you’re taking action, you can gain experience from it and learn from the failures that you made before. You can also grow confidence and hope after taking action, because you see the progress you’ve to accomplish throughout time and that you are one step closer to your goal.
