The Novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury has many quotes that are, in my opinion, very significant. Most of the quotes in the book are metaphors. If you take the time to understand them they can open your eyes to new ideas. The novel is based on a future society that Ray made up in the 60ś. The book is following around a man named Montag who lives in a world where books are banned in case they may be offensive. Montag's job is a fireman, who:s job entails burning houses that have illegal books instead of what they do in our modern society, get rid of the fires. Montag's wife Mildred, a woman who stays just within the box and never thinks outside, is continuously holding Montag back from all his realizations.Montag meets a young girl named Clarisse who thinks outside of the box which is something frowned upon in their world. Clarisse opens his eyes to new ideas and he soon find himself reading books and disobeying everything he had once believed over the course of the book he is found having …show more content…
We need to be really bothered once in awhile.” In the novel everyone lives lives without confrontation. No human in this dystopian society has any problem solving skills because their bland lives are like a rotation that begins and ends the same everyday. This quote can be taken many ways but the way I see it can be put into account by anyone in most situations. This quote I believe is beyond true. If we chose to just go about our lives with no annoyances, drama, or trouble we will never learn to face problems. It is good to be alone and problem free every once and awhile. I know from personal experience, being this is my favorite way to be. However, I can not imagine a world where I had no problems to face, responsibilities, or goals to achieve. I believe overall Bradbury using the society in the book to make us see that we don't want to be the Mildreds of the world but instead the

In the novel Fahrenheit 451, people are encouraged to be “whistleblowers” and to tattle on those who do not conform to society and ideals. I believe that this is an accurate description of the society in which we live today and whole-heartedly agree with Bradbury’s views of what society will become if we continue on this path. I think that Bradbury included the aspect of society in which people are encouraged to be mindlessly happy because that is the direction in which he saw society turning, and he wished to express his opinions on what our society would become if we continued on this path to what we thought would be a perfect utopia, but in all reality it is simply a well-disguised form of dystopia and misery, in which no one could ever…

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is a dystopian novel that takes the reader on a journey through a future world where books are illegal. The novel outlines the fact that books are important to civilization in many ways, whether it be content, characters, themes, or any important historical foundation that books contain. At the end of the book, the main character, Guy Montag, grabs a few books to save from the firemen, and finds himself amongst a group of homeless book lovers who each have books, or portions of books, memorized where they are safe from the hands of firemen and the government. With the idea of being in Montag’s place and having a choice of which books I would save, I would have chosen The Color Purple, The Wind in the Willows, and The Life of Pi, each for their own unique qualities that would be valuable for future civilizations for historical reference. Rich with gender and racial history, The Color Purple by Alice Walker exemplifies what life was like in the early 1900s for southern African American women.…
