In almost every novel there is a person with great power. Whether it is someone who abuses that power, or uses it for good. This can be seen in the book Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, and through my own personal experiences.
In the book Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, it can be seen that power is a very important aspect of leadership. Main character, Guy Montag, is the hero in this classic book. He bravely chose to form his own opinions about books, and society itself. At the beginning of the story his character appears to be cold, and distant from the rest of the world. Montag appears to be moving through his life, without really living. That all changes when he meets Clarisse, and girl who lives in his neighborhood. Clarisse along with many other motivational characters in Fahrenheit 451, are able to inspire Montag to prove himself as a strong protagonist. Simon and Ralph can be seen as heros in the novel, because they were able to do good with the amounts of power that they had. Jack, however, was given a small amount of power at the beginning of the book, and he abused it. The more Jack abused his power the more power he had. Contrasting the different styles of leadership between Jack and Ralph, it can be seen that authority is important when in a powerful role of leadership. Had Ralph been more authoritative with his power in the beginning of the book, Jack may have been less likely to act out. Jack however, was very assertive with his power and able to divide the kids on the island. This eventually lead to an even larger abuse of power and the death of many kids on the
