Montag’s Change
In the book Fahrenheit 451 The character Montag Changes a lot from the beginning of the story. This story is about the future where technology has been updated so much that they no longer have a need for books and actually made it illegal to have them.They burnt down the houses of people that have been caught with books and if the people refuse to leave the house they will burn it down with them still in it. The government censored the information that got to the public by destroying books so then public only knows what the government wants them to know. Montag meets a girl named Clarisse and she is the main reason Montag started to change in the first place. She questioned him about his life and ask if he was really happy with his life and what he is doing with it. This cause Montag to think about himself and he realized that he was actually missing something in his life, he thought that somewhere in the books he would find the answer. A little after that Montag ended up stealing a book and the book just happened to be the bible, someone saw him when he stole the book and the firemen group leader knew about it. But he did not want to return it till he was able to to understand the book and to see if it is what is missing from his happiness. The bible is possibly the last copy on earth and if the firemen get a hand on it then it will be burnt immediately. Even by the thought of what he imagines the book can provide for him, he is starting to actually care and think for himself rather than just doing what other people tell him that he should be doing. Montag ended up contacting an old man named Faber, who use to be an English teacher, Montag met Faber in the park once when he was on patrol. Realizing that Faber was the last hope for Montag to learn more about books and understand what they mean to see if they will help him. After meeting with Faber both men made a plan to save as many books as they could. This is obviously a big opening to Montag changing throughout the Fahrenheit
